Seminar: Advanced Topics in Numerical Optimization
Recent information
A preliminary discussion will take place on Tuesday, 9 April at 15:15 in room F426. There we will also agree on the course of the seminar.
Description and Content
The seminar deals with different areas of optimisation.
The topics arise from the current research in the numerical optimisation group.
Examples are
- Stochastic optimisation
- Optimisation using surrogate models
- Optimal control of differential equations
- Inverse problems
These methods find applications in the optimisation of energy grids (with regard to sustainability), in medical therapy planning and in the optimal design of lithium-ion batteries.
The seminar topics can also be used as preparation for a thesis. Attendance of Optimisation I is assumed as prior knowledge.
The seminar will be led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Volkwein.
