Title: Extensible beams with possible degenerate damping coefficient of Balakrishnan-Taylor’s type: stability and long-time dynamics
Abstract: The goal of this talk is to present a model in hyperbolic evolution equations related to extensible beams with a nonlocal possibly degenerate damping coefficient of Balakrishnan-Taylor’s type. We shall first see that the intrinsic polynomial feature of the damping term is enough to produce a range of polynomial stability to equilibrium, by preventing any kind of exponential behavior in the topology of the weak phase space along the time. Then, the long-time dynamics shall be also analyzed in terms of the corresponding dynamical system whose purpose is to provide an estimate for the Kolmogorov ε-entropy for the family compact global attractors.
