Abstract: In this talk, I will present our recent work on stability of two nonlinear waves (shock wave and rarefaction wave) for the 1-d isentropic gas dynamic system with stress tensor given by Maxwell’s law. We show the linear stability of viscous shock waves and nonlinear stability of rarefaction waves, respectively, for the relaxed system. Energy and anti-derivative methods are explored.
