Zusammenfassung: In this talk we discuss a randomized di fference norm characterization for Bessel potential spaces in the UMD Banach space-valued setting. The main ingredients are R-boundedness results for Fourier multiplier operators, which are of independent interest. As an application we characterize the pointwise multiplier property of the indicator function of the half-space on these function spaces. The latter is an important ingredient in interpolation with boundary conditions.
