Carl Eggen
Since January 2021 I am a Ph.D. student in the group of Prof. Dr. Stefan Volkwein. I work on simulation and optimization of energy supply networks using Polynomial Optimization from Real Algebraic Geometry. Thus, my thesis is co-mentored by Prof. Dr. Markus Schweighofer.
Since October 2021 my research project is supported by a doctoral scholarship of the German Federal Environmental Foundation.
Research Topics:
- Polynomial Optimization
- Semidefinite Programming
- Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Optimization
- Optimization of Energy Supply Networks
Programming languages and software used:
- Python
- Julia
- Latex
Teaching:
- Summer Term 2021: Supervision of the lecture "Optimization I" of Prof. Volkwein.
- Winter Term 21/22: Supervision of the lecture "Numerische Mathematik" of Prof. Volkwein and Dr. Frei
- Summer Term 22: Tutorium of the lecture "Optimierung I" of Prof. Azmi
- Summer Term 23: Supervision and tutorium of the lecture "Vectors, Matrices and Tensors for Data Analysis with Julia" of Prof. Schweighofer
